The question

Is it permissible for a Muslim to say "Bismillah" (in the name of Allah) before performing ablution inside the bathroom after relieving himself, or must he exit, say "Bismillah," and then re-enter for ablution? And is it permissible to engage in the remembrance of Allah while showering in the bathroom?

The answer

Saying "Bismillah" (In the name of Allah) in the bathroom should be done in one's heart, not verbally. The preponderant opinion is that saying "Bismillah" is recommended, not obligatory.
