The answer

The default state of water is purity, unless its color, taste, or smell changes due to impurity. If it changes due to a pure substance, such as rust, it remains pure and purifying as long as the name "water" still applies to it. This is the correct view: "As long as it is called water and its parts are not overwhelmed by other substances, it remains pure and purifying." However, if it changes due to an impurity, it becomes impure by consensus. It is advised not to drink water that has changed due to rust, due to potential harm.
