The question

1. Is it obligatory to check for discharge after every prayer, and is one sinful for not doing so? 2. If discharge is found after the Fajr prayer and the time of sunrise has begun, is the prayer considered to have been performed on time? 3. Does the ruling on urinary incontinence apply to the aforementioned situation? 4. What is the meaning of performing ablution after the time [for prayer] has begun, and must it be done immediately, or is there some flexibility in its timing? 5. If ablution becomes invalid immediately after the time [for prayer] has begun, what should be done?

The answer

A woman who experiences irregular discharge is subject to the ruling of a person with chronic incontinence (sahib al-salas). She is only required to perform ablution (wudu') after the time for prayer has begun. It is permissible for her to perform ablution at any point during that prayer time, and then pray with that ablution as many obligatory and supererogatory prayers as she wishes until that prayer time expires. There is no need for her to inspect herself or to repeat her ablution and prayer.
