The answer

The more cautious approach is for the man to repeat the prayer he performed, because ensuring water reaches all parts of the ablution organs is a condition for its validity. Therefore, removing anything that prevents water from reaching the skin is obligatory, whether it is a little or a lot, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying to a man who left a fingernail's breadth without ablution: "Go back and perfect your ablution." And Imam An-Nawawi's statement: "If there is wax, dough, henna, or similar substances on some of his limbs, and it prevents water from reaching any part of the limb, then his purification is invalid, whether it is a lot or a little." Although some scholars, like Sheikh Ibn Taymiyyah, made allowances for a slight barrier, the first opinion is more cautious and absolves one's responsibility, and it is the opinion of the majority of scholars. Therefore, the man must repeat the prayer.
