Is it necessary to undo braids when performing ablution (Wudu')?

It is not obligatory to undo braided hair during ablution (wudu) or ritual bathing () after major impurity (), due to the hardship involved. It suffices for a woman during ghusl to pour water on her head three times, then pour water over the rest of her body.
