How can the noble verse be ignored: {And when the Qur’an is recited, then listen to it} and instead adopt what contradicts it from the hadith or the opinions of the Salaf, such as the obligation for the worshipper behind the imam to recite Al-Fatihah in the audible prayer even if the imam is reciting the Qur’an?

The issue of reciting behind the Imam is a matter of permissible scholarly disagreement. Some scholars have mandated the recitation of Al-Fatihah behind the Imam, arguing that the texts which obligate this particularize the general scope of the Quranic verse concerning the obligation to listen attentively to the Imam. This is because the Sunnah (definition) particularizes the Quran and elucidates its generalities. Others, however, have prioritized the generality of the verse and particularized the hadith (definition), "There is no prayer for one who does not recite the Opening of the Book," by it.
