Is it permissible to divide the Tarawih prayer between two imams, such that each imam prays four Rak'ahs?

There is no objection to performing Tarawih prayer with two imams, each leading a part of it. This practice is from the عمل السلف الصالح (actions of the righteous predecessors). Indeed, Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, commanded Ubayy ibn Ka'b and Tamim al-Dari to lead the people in eleven rak'ahs, and the reciter would recite hundreds of verses. It is proper for the second imam to recite from where the first one finished, because the second is a substitute and deputy for the first. Reading from a different point contradicts devotion and the Sunnah (definition) of reciting the Quran in sequence.
