Is the recitation of the surahs and verses for which a great virtue has been mentioned achieved in prayers, or is it necessary for it to be outside of prayer?
Reciting the desired surahs or verses is permissible both inside and outside of prayer. However, reciting them within prayer is superior and yields a greater reward, as it was narrated from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Reciting the Quran in prayer is better than reciting it outside of prayer." Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "Reciting the Quran within prayer is better than outside of prayer, and the virtue mentioned for the reciter of the Quran applies to the worshiper more greatly than to others." Therefore, it is better to recite these surahs and verses within prayer, and if one recites them outside of prayer, they will still receive their reward. An example of this is Al-Mulk; if it is recited in prayer, it is better, and if it is recited outside of prayer, it is good and the reciter will attain its reward.
