Is there a solution for family problems that involve the actions of a mentally ill son and the deviance of other children, and is the placing of carrion meat and stones in the house considered sorcery? What should be done about that?

Family problems may not be due to magic (sihr), but rather a trial (ibtila') that requires patience and seeking refuge with Allah Almighty through supplication (du'a), especially the answered prayer of parents for their children. Wayward siblings should be advised and reminded of Allah. If the problems do not have ordinary causes, then there might be magic, in which case legal ruqyah (definition) and reciting Surat Al-Baqarah in the home are recommended. No one should be accused of magic without clear evidence. It is not permissible to abandon one's parents if that would expose them to ruin.
