The answer

Our advice to whoever is distressed is to fear Allah and increase in His remembrance. He should also resort to Allah through supplication, like the supplication of Yunus: "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers," and the well-known supplication: "O Allah, I am Your slave, son of Your male slave, son of Your female slave. My forelock is in Your hand."

Indeed, songs and musical instruments do not remove worry; rather, they increase it. And sins are the greatest cause of distress.

The best remedy for distress is repentance and seeking forgiveness, for sins cause worry, grief, and distress. Similarly, loving the Quran, reciting it, and listening to it expels from the heart the love of whatever angers Allah, such as musical instruments and singing.
