What is the duration that is considered abandonment of the Qur’an? Is it similar to the duration of a Muslim abandoning his brother (three days)? Does reading some verses in the morning and evening adhkar prevent the quality of abandonment? And what is the reward for reading 100, 300, 700, and 1000 verses?

The Holy Quran may be abandoned by neglecting its recitation and not reading it. Narrations from scholars have been reported regarding the maximum period for completing a recitation of the Quran. Abu Hanifa stated that it should be completed twice a year, and Ahmad explicitly disliked delaying its completion for more than forty days without a valid excuse. Reciting verses for dhikr (remembrance) does not substitute for reciting the Quran with the intention of recitation. As for the reward for reading one hundred verses, whoever prays with them at night will not be recorded among the heedless, and whoever recites a thousand verses will be recorded among the muqantireen (those who have accumulated immense rewards). No specific authentic hadith (definition) has been reported regarding the reward for reading three hundred or seven hundred verses. The reward mentioned in the preceding hadiths pertains to those who recite them in night prayer. As for general Quranic recitation, every letter of it earns a good deed, and a good deed is multiplied tenfold.
