What is the most accurate opinion regarding the Imam's allowing sufficient time for the worshiper to recite Al-Fatiha in audible prayers between Al-Fatiha and the Surah, and what does the Imam do during that time?

The jurists differed on the permissibility of the imam's pause (saktah) after Surat Al-Fatihah, holding two views: 1. Permissibility: This view is held by the Shafi'is and Hanbalis. They cite as evidence the hadith (definition) of Samurah, which states that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to make two pauses: when he began the prayer, and when he finished the recitation. 2. Disliking (Karahah): This view is held by the Hanafis and Malikis. Their reasoning is the absence of sound evidence and that the hadith of Samurah is weak.
