Is ritual purity required when touching a book of Qur’anic exegesis, just as it is required when touching the Holy Qur’an itself? Is it permissible to wear gloves to touch books? And what are the surahs mentioned in Juz’ Qad Sami‘a?

It is permissible for someone in a state of ritual impurity (junub) or otherwise to touch and carry books of Tafsir (definition) (exegesis), whether the Tafsir is extensive or brief, because they are not considered a Mus'haf (complete copy of the Quran). As for touching the Mus'haf through a barrier, scholars have differed on this: the Hanbalis permitted it, while the Malikis prohibited it. The surahs mentioned in the part "Qad Sami'a" are: Al-Mujadalah, Al-Hashr, Al-Mumtahinah, As-Saff, Al-Jumu'ah, Al-Munafiqun, At-Taghabun, At-Talaq (definition), At-Tahrim.
