Is it permissible to pay salaries to those in charge of a charitable project that collects donations through viewing permissible advertisements, and is this money lawful or unlawful, and if unlawful, where should it be directed?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
If no payments are made to the company, and the advertisements are free from prohibitions, then there is no harm in personal gain or fundraising through browsing advertisements. The one in charge of the charitable project must spend the money for the stated purpose, or for any virtuous cause if not restricted, while seeking what is most beneficial for Muslims. It is permissible to pay salaries to assistants in the charitable project if their volunteering is not feasible.
