"The sponsorship of non-Muslim orphans is permissible with two conditions: that it does not affect the sponsorship of Muslims, and that those orphans are in the care of Muslims and among them. It is not permissible to sponsor them if they are with their disbelieving families or in the lands of disbelief with their institutions. It is not permissible to sponsor Christian orphans if they are in their lands and among their people, unlike the case if they have migrated from the lands of disbelief and settled among the Muslims and their connection with the people of the Christian religion has been severed. Muslim orphans are more deserving of custody and sponsorship than the children of Christians and innovators.
