Is it permissible to buy New Year's sweets with the sole intention of eating them?

It is not permissible to celebrate the Hijri or Gregorian New Year. As for buying sweets, not with the intention of celebrating, it is permissible. There is no difference between food prepared and designated for that day and other food.
