Is it permissible for the donor of a sacrificial sheep (for charity) on the Day of Arafat to eat from its meat?

The Day of Arafah is one of the most virtuous days in the sight of Allah, and fasting on it expiates the sins of two years. Giving charity and increasing acts of obedience on this day carry great merit, because righteous deeds are multiplied on virtuous days. Therefore, if an animal is slaughtered as charity for the poor and needy on this day, it is a deed beloved by Allah, and it is permissible to partake of it unless it was a vow. However, an Udhiyah (definition) (sacrificial animal for Eid al-Adha) cannot be slaughtered on the Day of Arafah, because its time for slaughter is on the Day of Nahr (Eid al-Adha) after the Eid prayer. The Udhiyah is superior to mere charity, and some scholars have even held that it is obligatory.
