Is it permissible to fast on the Day of Arafah?

The Day of 'Arafah: It is recommended for a Muslim who is not performing Hajj to fast on this day. As for the pilgrim (Hajji), the for him is not to fast on it, so that he may gain strength for supplication, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, refrained from fasting it during Hajj.
