The question

What is the ruling on purchasing foreign and Arab films or subscribing to their websites, while knowing their original ruling? And is that considered another sin, or is it an obligation to pay for what has been used, in consideration of intellectual property rights?

The answer

The ruling on films that were permissible has been previously explained. As for those that are forbidden, one must repent and seek forgiveness for watching them. Spending money to watch them is an additional sin, as it involves consuming wealth in falsehood, extravagance, and wasting money. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, when Allah forbids something, He also forbids its price." Extravagance is spending on acts of disobedience to Allah the Almighty.
