What is the age of the sacrificial animal?

For the Udhiyah (definition) (sacrificial animal), it is permissible to use a camel that has completed five years, a cow that has completed two years, a goat that has completed one year, and a Jadh'a (a young sheep) from the sheep, which is one that has completed six months or more. This is supported by the Hadith (definition) of Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him: "Do not slaughter except a Musinnah (an animal that has reached the age of maturity), unless it becomes difficult for you, in which case you may slaughter a Jadh'a from the sheep." There are also other Ahadith that permit sacrificing a Jadh'a from the sheep. As for a Jadh'a from goats, it is not permissible except for its specific owner if a Musinnah is unavailable.
