When does the waiting period (Iddah) for a woman whose husband has passed away end, if the Iddah began on the 11th of Muharram at 1:37 AM, and is it necessary for her to intend to enter the Iddah?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
The waiting period () for a widow who is not pregnant begins on the day her husband dies and ends after the passage of four lunar months and ten days. The intention to enter the waiting period is not a condition. So, if the wife does not learn of her husband's death until after several days, the elapsed portion of the period is counted for her.
