Does "righteous progeny" in the noble Hadith "Three things follow the deceased: his family, his wealth, and his deeds. Two return, and one remains. His family and his wealth return, and his deeds remain" and also in "When a human dies, his deeds cease except for three: an ongoing charity, knowledge from which benefit is derived, or a righteous child who supplicates for him" include only the son, or does it encompass sons, grandsons, and their descendants?

Perhaps the questioner is referring to the : "When a person dies, all his deeds cease except for three: a continuous charity, knowledge from which benefit is derived, or a righteous child who prays for him." The term "child" here refers to direct and indirect offspring, and their righteousness means their faith. The hadith: "Three things follow the deceased: two return, and one remains. His family, his wealth, and his deeds follow him. His family and wealth return, and his deeds remain," is a different hadith.
