Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah was often accused of animosity towards the Family of the Prophet (Ahl al-Bayt), yet his writings and statements prove the exact opposite. He viewed their love as an obligatory duty, and that whoever harbors hatred for them is cursed by angels and all of mankind. He considered Ali to be among the best of the Ahl al-Bayt and the mawla (master/protector) of every believer. He defended the Ahl al-Bayt and dedicated a treatise to their rights, emphasizing their فض (virtue) and status.
