What is the evidence that a traveler [who returns] to his wife should pray the full prayer?

If a traveler arrives in a country where he has a wife, then the shortening (qasr) of the four-rak'ah prayers ceases, and he must pray them in full. This is supported by the hadith (definition) of Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, who prayed four rak'ahs in Mina and said: "I have taken a wife in Makkah since I arrived, and I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'Whoever takes a wife in a land, let him pray the prayer of a resident.'" It is also supported by the saying of Ibn Abbas: "If you come to your family or your property, then pray the prayer of a resident."
