The answer

Insulting and reviling a Muslim is forbidden, and it becomes even more strictly forbidden for someone who has a right to companionship, such as a wife, based on Allah's saying: "And live with them in kindness." Showing kindness and honoring one's wife is a sign of a man's goodness, in confirmation of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The best of you is the best to his family."

The husband should fear Allah and refrain from insulting and humiliating his wife, as it contradicts noble character and is forbidden. The wife should be patient and confront her husband's bad character with good companionship, and she should try to advise him and remind him of her rights upon him, and avoid the reasons that lead him to use such words. Marital life is not without its difficulties, and if a woman fulfills her husband's legitimate rights and obeys him in permissible matters, she will be rewarded.
