How can a Muslim cultivate the love of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in his heart so that it surpasses every other love in this world?

The strength of love for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is proportional to the strength of faith, and it is an obligatory act of obedience and drawing near to Allah. This love can be acquired by knowing his status with Allah, that he is the best of mankind and the master of the children of Adam, and that he endured hardships in conveying the religion. It is also acquired by emulating the Companions in their intense love for him, following his Sunnah (definition) and methodology, prioritizing his sayings and commands over every other saying and command, while adhering to the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah (the People of the Sunnah and the Community).
