What is the meaning of "I was aided by terror for a month's journey," mentioned in the Hadith: "I have been favored above the prophets with six things: I have been given comprehensive words, I was aided by terror for a month's journey, spoils of war were made lawful for me, the earth was made for me a mosque and a means of purification, I was sent to all of creation, and the prophets were sealed with me"?
The first , which begins with "I have been favored over the prophets with six things," was narrated by Muslim, Tirmidhi, and Ahmad, and it does not mention a distance of a month's journey. As for the second Hadith, which includes "a month's journey," it came with the wording: "I have been given five things which no Prophet before me was given: I have been made victorious by awe (cast into the hearts of the enemy) for a distance of one month's journey; the earth has been made for me a place for prayer and a means of purification, so any man of my Ummah, wherever he may be when the time for prayer comes, should pray; the spoils of war have been made lawful for me, and they were not made lawful for anyone before me; I have been granted intercession; and a Prophet used to be sent only to his people, but I have been sent to all mankind." This Hadith is agreed upon. The meaning of "I have been made victorious by awe (cast into the hearts of the enemy) for a distance of one month's journey" is that Allah casts dread into the hearts of His enemies from a distance of a month's journey. This exclusivity is affirmed for him even if he is alone.
