Is it permissible to supplicate in Qunūt with something other than the prescribed supplication, such as beginning with praise and glorification and sending blessings upon the Prophet, then supplicating with the prescribed supplication, and then supplicating with whatever one wishes thereafter? And is it better to supplicate after rising from Rukūʿ or before it? And is the prescribed supplication recited in Qunūt al-Nawāzil (Qunūt for calamities) or not?

The first (priority) in the Qunut supplication is to adhere to the reported wording, but there is no harm in adding to it or supplicating with other words. No specific supplication is obligatory for Qunut, and what is best is that which has been transmitted in the Sunnah (definition). The place for Qunut is after bowing (rukūʿ), and it is permissible before it, as both have been reported in the Sunnah. The Qunut supplication in a calamity (nazilah) differs from the Qunut of Witr or Fajr prayer; it should be with words appropriate for that specific calamity in order to lift it.
