Is there a ḥadīth that prohibits extravagance in the use of water, even if one is on a river?

Scholars have unanimously agreed on the detestability of extravagance in water usage, even if it is from a flowing river. They based this on the Hadith (definition) of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who, when he passed by Sa'd as he was performing ablution, said: "What is this extravagance, O Sa'd?" He asked: "Is there extravagance in ablution?" He replied: "Yes, even if you are by a flowing river." Extravagance in ablution and other matters is blameworthy and falls under the general meaning of His Almighty saying: "And do not be extravagant; indeed, He does not like the extravagant."
