Should hot food be left covered until its steam dissipates, or should it be left uncovered?

Leaving hot food covered until its steam dissipates is closer to receiving blessing (barakah). This is supported by the hadith (definition) of Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her), in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, it is greater for blessing." Ibn Hibban titled a chapter concerning this: "Mentioning the desirability for a person to cover his 'thareed' (a dish of bread soaked in broth) before eating, hoping for blessing to be found in it." This aligns with the general statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Cover vessels, tie up waterskins, close doors, and extinguish lamps, for Satan does not untie a waterskin, nor open a door, nor uncover a vessel."
