The answer

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, does not have a foster brother named Abu Talib. The Prophet's foster mothers are Thuwaybah, the freed slave of Abu Lahab, and Halimah al-Sa'diyah. His foster sister is Al-Shayma' bint Al-Harith, and his foster brothers are Abdullah and Anisah, sons of Al-Harith; they are his foster siblings through Halimah al-Sa'diyah. As for Hamza ibn Abd al-Muttalib and Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Asad, they are his foster brothers through Thuwaybah. The Prophet's proposal to Umm Hani' bint Abi Talib indicates that he was not Abu Talib's foster brother.
