What is the ruling on using a shovel (backhoe) to pour earth onto the grave of the deceased instead of pouring it by hand, which is the established Sunnah?

There is no harm in covering the deceased with earth using machinery after the grave has been sealed with bricks or other materials. It is narrated in a hadith (definition) by Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that the sound of shovels was heard when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was being buried. Nevertheless, it is preferable for those close to the grave to scoop earth with their hands, due to the good it entails, but it is not obligatory.
