The first to recite the Qur’an melodiously (tarteel) was the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, because he was the primary recipient of Allah Almighty’s words: {Or add to it, and recite the Qur’an with a measured recitation} (Al-Muzzammil: 4), and because the Qur’an was revealed to him and to no one else.
