Is it normal for menstruation to come very lightly in the form of spotting, then to flow in its usual normal way after 14 days?

Blood in the form of light spots is considered menses if it occurs within the period of possibility of menses, i.e., if fifteen days or more have passed between its beginning and the end of the previous menstrual period according to the majority of scholars, and thirteen days or more according to the Hanbalis. In this case, the woman must refrain from prayer, fasting, and all that a menstruating woman refrains from until she sees purity. These rulings do not differ based on the characteristic of the blood unless the woman is experiencing irregular bleeding (istihada). As for the onset of the period after 14 days, if the fourteen days are from the cessation of the light bleeding, then it is a normal renewed menstruation according to the Hanbali school.
