The answer

If the intermittent bleeding does not exceed 15 days, then she should perform when the bleeding stops and consider herself pure, and consider herself in menses when it flows. However, if the intermittent bleeding exceeds 15 days, then she is considered to have istihada (prolonged non-menstrual bleeding). In this case, she should observe her regular menstrual period, then perform ghusl, pray, and fast. If she does not have a regular period, she should differentiate between menstrual blood and istihada blood. If she cannot differentiate, then the usual duration for menstruation is six or seven days from the beginning of the Arabic month.
