For a man, the private parts (al-farj) are the penis (al-dhakar) and the anus (al-dubur). For a woman, they are the vagina (al-qubul) and the anus (al-dubur). "Vaginal discharge" (rutubat al-farj) refers to any wetness that exits from either of the two excretory passages, whether from a man or a woman. The jurists have stipulated that every fluid exiting from either of the two passages is impure (najis), such as urine, feces, prostatic fluid (madhiy), pre-ejaculate (wadiy), semen, menstrual blood, postpartum bleeding (nifas (definition)), and abnormal uterine bleeding (istihadah (definition)), and this includes any other wetness that exits from them.
