If the distance between the edge of the city and your workplace is more than 84 km, then it is permissible for you to combine Dhuhr and Asr prayers at your workplace. However, if you delay the Dhuhr prayer until you return home, then shortening the prayer is not permissible; rather, you must perform Dhuhr and Asr with four rak'ahs each.
