Is it permissible to cut ties of kinship with one's maternal uncle and aunt because they expelled the inquirer from their home and verbally abused him?

Kinship ties are of great importance, and maintaining them is obligatory, while severing them is forbidden and a cause of damnation. It is not permissible to sever kinship ties, especially with the maternal uncle and aunt. If relatives are abusive, one should cut ties only to the extent necessary to prevent harm, while still maintaining other forms of connection, as means of connection are many. It is assumed that one should ignore any expulsion that is not explicit. The Sunnah (definition) indicates the virtue of those who maintain kinship ties even if they are cut off, and there is no humiliation in that. Muslim narrated from Abu Hurairah that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah; I have relatives whom I maintain ties with, but they cut me off; I am good to them, but they mistreat me; I am forbearing with them, but they behave ignorantly towards me." He said: "If you are as you say, it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will continue to have a supporter from Allah against them as long as you remain in that state." It is also important to reconcile between relatives, as Allah the Almighty said: "No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for whoever enjoins charity or what is just or reconciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah - We will give him a great reward." [An-Nisa:114]. And it was narrated from Abu Ad-Darda' that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Shall I not inform you of something better than the degree of fasting, prayer, and charity?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Reconciling disputes, for indeed corrupting relations is the shaver."
