Should I interrupt prayer and fasting every time I see blood, or should I continue, considering the blood to be istihada (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding) outside the usual time of menstruation, even if its characteristics differ, due to hormonal imbalance?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
If the returning blood, as mentioned, appears less than fifteen days (the minimum period of purity according to the majority of scholars) or thirteen days (the Hanbali school of thought) after the end of the first blood, and the total duration of both blood flows and the period of purity between them exceeds fifteen days, then it is considered istihada (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding).
