The answer

If dryness means there is no blood when a cotton swab is inserted, then a small amount of blood that does not last a day and a night is not considered menstruation by the majority of scholars.

However, if dryness means that blood is not visibly flowing, but the cotton swab comes out stained with blood when inserted, then the woman is considered to be menstruating. Some scholars are of the view that the cessation of blood for less than a day is not considered purity, unless the woman sees a sign of purity, such as the cessation occurring at the end of her usual period, or she sees the white discharge (al-qassah al-bayḍā’).
