What is the ruling on working as a fashion model and appearing in magazines or on television in traditional Indian and Asian attire?

It is impermissible for a Muslim woman to work as a fashion model, due to the display of her charms and adornments, which attract men's gazes, and because it contradicts what the Sharia (definition) has commanded regarding modesty, chastity, and a woman's settling in her home. Furthermore, these shows are often accompanied by music, mixing, and unlawful looking. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Woman is awrah (private/to be concealed); when she goes out, Satan looks at her with keenness."
