Is placing a refrigerator in the mosque considered providing water and an ongoing charity (sadaqa jariyah) for the deceased if the water is taken from the mosque's own water supply?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
Donating a refrigerator for people to drink from in public places, especially in the mosque, is among the acts of charity and ongoing alms ( jariyah) whose reward reaches the deceased if it is dedicated to them, as stated in the : "When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, or knowledge from which others benefit, or a righteous child who supplicates for him." The owner of the refrigerator receives its reward, while the reward for the water goes to whoever endowed it.
