Giving charity through water connections and similar items from which people benefit and whose substance remains, is considered an ongoing charity ( Jariyah). Everything dedicated for charitable purposes is part of ongoing charity. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: an ongoing charity, or knowledge from which others benefit, or a righteous child who prays for him." Scholars have interpreted ongoing charity as endowments for charitable purposes, or anything whose benefit is continuous.
