Is zakat obligatory on vacant, uncultivated land that yields no profit, is designated for building, but the necessary funds are not yet available?
Source: FtawySummary from Ftawy's records · added here Sep 2, 2026
There is no obligatory on land purchased for building a residence because it is considered a fixed asset (amwal al-qinya), and there is no zakat on such assets, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no (zakat) on a Muslim's horse or his slave."
