The answer

and shares are subject to on both capital and profits upon the completion of a Hawl (one lunar year). As for shares in agricultural, real estate, and industrial companies, Zakat is obligatory on their profits if these profits reach the (minimum threshold) and a Hawl has passed over them. The Zakat due is one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%). Zakat is not obligatory on assets that are not intended for sale. However, assets intended for sale are subject to Zakat along with their profits, just like other trade goods. If the agricultural company produces grains, dates, or grapes, the prescribed Zakat becomes obligatory on them if the production of each type reaches five Wasq or more.
