If the money reaches the (minimum threshold) and a hawl (full lunar year) passes over it, then becomes obligatory on it, because it is owned wealth. The nisab is the value of 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver, and the obligatory zakat amount is a quarter of a tenth (2.5%), and the hawl is calculated by the Hijri year.
