The expenses for transporting the body are not to be taken from the inheritance if this entails excessive cost or waste of money, and the same applies to the expenses of those accompanying the funeral procession. It is not permissible to give charity from the inheritance if the deceased did not bequeath it, unless the heirs consent. Zakat (definition) is obligatory on the amount if it reaches the nisab (definition) and a full year has passed over it, and stable debts are deducted before Zakat becomes due. If Zakat has not been paid for several years, then a quarter of a tenth (2.5%) for each of those years is to be paid after deducting the debt, and an estimate is to be made if the exact amount is unknown. Zakat does not lapse with the death of the woman; rather, it is deducted from the inheritance before its distribution.
