The answer

The (minimum amount upon which is due) for wheat and barley is five awsuq. One wasq is sixty sa's, and one sa' is four amdad. Wheat and barley are combined for the nisab because they are considered of the same genus. The zakat due on them, if irrigated by rain, is one-tenth. The cost of harvesting and similar expenses are deducted from the nisab. As for the sack (shawwal), its weight may not be precise, and the nisab is determined by volume (kilage).
