The answer

The Hawl (one-year Islamic lunar cycle for calculation) for money does not change by investing it in a business project, because the Hawl for trade goods is based on their value. However, if the money is used for purposes other than trade, the Hawl for the initial money is interrupted, and a new Hawl begins for the new money, provided it is of a type subject to zakat. The method for calculating zakat on a business project is to appraise the goods prepared for sale, add the cash to their value, and then disburse two and a half percent (2.5%) of the total. It should be noted that the (minimum amount of wealth subject to zakat) is determined by the equivalent of 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver.
