The answer

According to the majority of scholars, is not obligatory on jewelry prepared for personal use, and this is the prevailing . If the gold is 12-karat and weighs 103 grams, zakat is not obligatory on it alone because it does not reach the (85 grams) of pure gold. Zakat is only obligatory on pure gold after deducting impurities. If you possess other gold, combine the pure gold from all of it (whether 12, 18, or other karats). If it reaches the nisab (85 grams), then give out one-quarter of one-tenth (2.5%) of it, or its value. The method for calculating the net weight is to multiply the grams by the karat and divide the result by 24, after deducting the weight of precious stones.
